About me

I like it when things make sense.

I'm Blanka - a business analyst, consultant and doctoral student in business management. I enjoy connecting business, technology and people to help them work smarter. Here's a little more about who's behind the work.

Who's behind the work

Blanka Sopoušková

I've always enjoyed understanding how things work, why they work, and how to make them simpler.

That curiosity runs through everything I do: my work, my research and ordinary everyday life. I hold an MBA in HR and am studying for a doctorate in business management alongside my work - which is why I understand not only people, but how all the departments of a company fit together.

One of my strengths is my work ethic. I try to approach things realistically and analyse them, while also using emotional intelligence so that I treat people and situations the right way. I try to be as good as I can at everything I do, and above all to keep it fair - so that everyone is happy with the result in the end, not just me.

And one more thing that's part of me: I'm myself. I don't always speak in a polished way and I say things straight, but always with respect. My wardrobe holds barely any colour besides black (and what little there is doesn't see daylight for years) - I get that this won't suit everyone. But honestly: I'd rather be authentic and click with people it works for than play someone I'm not. And when we do click, it works all the better.

From people to process, data and product

A span across fintech, e-commerce and services - exactly what helps me see the bigger picture.

My path wasn't a straight line - and that's exactly why I understand a company from several sides. I started with people and operations, moved to data and process, and ended up with product and delivery in a regulated environment. That lets me connect the things that usually don't talk to each other: business, people, data and tech.

And what I don't know, I'm happy to learn. I see that as my greatest strength - curiosity and a willingness to learn took me from art history all the way to analysis in regulated fintech, and a new field isn't an obstacle for me but a challenge.

2024 - present · Fingood · Fintech
Product Operations Lead / Business Analyst
End-to-end delivery in regulated fintech - connecting business, IT, legal and compliance into solutions that actually work and last.
What I love: being the bridge between worlds that don't usually speak the same language, and seeing something I designed run in production without constant firefighting.
2021 - 2024 · Alza.cz · E-commerce
HR Process Specialist
Databases, reporting, data analysis, process setup and documentation, company-wide projects (SQL, Power BI, Excel).
What I learned: how data turns into decisions, and how good process quietly removes pain for hundreds of people.
2018 - 2021 · Starbucks · Services
Manager Assistant · product & facility
Alongside the full employee lifecycle (hiring, onboarding, training, development, feedback, shift planning, labour law), I also looked after products and store operations - forecasts, planning and ordering, stock counts, equipment care and arranging servicing.
What I loved: working with people directly - motivating, listening, and watching someone grow.
2016 - 2018 · StarJobs · Cinema City · Services
Operations Supervisor / Shift Leader
Running shifts and operations, administration, onboarding, documentation, scheduling.
What I learned: the foundations - service, responsibility, and keeping operations calm and in order under pressure.

Who I am when I'm not working

What I enjoy most is making life easier - for myself and for others. I look for ways to be productive not just at work but in personal life too, and I love passing that on. I'm in love with learning and exploring, languages, other cultures and plenty more. I want to be a bit of a renaissance person and handle everything myself (which isn't always easy, especially at 154 cm with high shelves). From creative things like painting and writing songs, through practical ones like small repairs around the house or cleaning the ice machine on shift, all the way to the more business and technical stuff.

How I got here

Part of my story is the detours and crossroads that shaped where I was heading. Oddly enough, when I was choosing my school-leaving subjects, I picked art history over IT - and it still steered me towards IT in the end. I tried several fields at university (education, archival studies), but I found myself mostly in business ones. It started with HR - the connector of everyone, the entry point into companies and a chance to work with people and help them. Even there I ended up leaning into a more technical role, and later moved to more technical positions like business analyst, gradually taking on more responsibility.

My path to health and to lipedema

On a more personal level, I dealt with weight and health issues my whole life. I had pain, losing weight wasn't working, and doctors mostly just told me I wasn't trying hard enough and that once I lost weight, everything would pass. It took a toll on my mind too, and some periods were harder. At one point something in me shifted and I started watching everything - food and exercise, at times maybe too much. It helped at least partly and gave me motivation. With diet and persistence I did manage to lose weight, but the pain, bruising and other issues stayed.

Then I learned that lipedema existed and booked an examination, which confirmed it - along with venous insufficiency. Since then I've been learning to work with it better and I understand a bit more about how my body works. In the meantime I completed a nutrition advisor course including the state exam, and I hold a nutrition advisor certificate. I'd love to help others - especially women dealing with food, self-confidence and the feelings I went through myself. And not only that: with women I sometimes see they're also looking for support with their career, business or getting a handle on their finances.

I try to be a good person, and I'd like to be a role model for others. I believe life is worth appreciating even in its harder moments - and that understanding things is the first step to changing them. Everyone has a story we don't know, and people could be a little kinder to each other sometimes.
