How does AI actually affect the way e-commerce companies work?

I am looking for small and medium-sized Czech e-commerce companies that use AI, test it or are only beginning to consider it. My research examines what determines whether AI creates real value for the company and for the people who work with it every day.

Current status: Recruitment is open

I am accepting companies on a rolling basis until the planned number of participating companies is reached.

What the study is about

This is not an audit or a contest to see who uses more tools.

I am examining the organisational and managerial conditions under which artificial intelligence produces tangible benefits. The research also compares management expectations with employees' day-to-day experience.

I am looking for approximately 15 companies at different stages of AI adoption. A company may have its own automations, use only a few common tools or still be considering where to begin.

What participation involves

A clear scope that you know in advance

I send the questionnaire and interview structure in advance. You will not be asked for internal financial statements or expected to join a lengthy academic marathon.

ActivityWhoEstimated time
Online questionnaire or semi-structured interviewOwner, managing director, CEO or, depending on the company, an operations or marketing lead15-minute questionnaire or 45-minute interview
Anonymous online questionnaireSeveral employees from relevant functions such as marketing, customer service, logistics or purchasingAbout 15 minutes per person
Optional clarificationThe company's contact personA short written follow-up or call

Why employees are included: Comparing day-to-day experience with the management perspective is what shows how AI actually works in practice. Management will not know who completed the questionnaire or how any individual responded.

What the company receives

An output you can use beyond the dissertation

Participation should not end with the data disappearing into an academic document. Every participating company receives its own practical output.

Management summary

An individual Executive Report of approximately 5-7 pages, showing the company's maturity across AI strategy, adoption and governance compared with the anonymised average of participating companies.

AI Scorecard and opportunities

An overview of strengths, barriers and areas where further AI development makes sense. Without pretending that every process inevitably needs another tool.

Management and team perspectives

With at least five employee responses, the company receives an aggregated comparison of management and employee views. With fewer responses, I provide a qualitative summary based on the interview.

Practical tips and findings

Participating employees receive AI tips tailored to their type of work. The company can also receive the main findings and, after the defence, the final dissertation.

Value for your time

We will agree on something your company actually needs.

In addition to the research output, I offer participating companies practical help from the areas in which I work professionally. We agree on the exact form in advance based on your needs and my capacity.

For example:

  • an external review of current AI use
  • mapping a selected process and its manual work
  • a proposal for appropriate AI use or automation
  • analytical or project support
  • a consultation, training session or recommended next steps

First, we choose help that makes sense for the company. I do not want to offer a universal package simply because it looks tidy in a list.

Confidentiality and data

Neither the company nor individual people will be identifiable in the results.

The study is designed so that companies and employees can participate openly without disclosing internal information publicly.

Pseudonymisation

Companies and individuals are recorded only under codes. I will know the company's identity and, if necessary, so will my dissertation supervisor.

No company name

The company name will not appear in the dissertation, at the defence or in published results. Published findings will be aggregated.

Employee protection

Management will not know who completed the questionnaire or how individual people responded. A company-level comparison is created only from five or more employee responses.

No sensitive statements

I do not need internal financial statements or commercially sensitive data. The informed consent explains the data processing conditions in detail.

How to take part

First, we briefly check that participation makes sense for both sides.

01

Send me a message

A few lines about the company, team size and whether you currently use AI are enough.

02

We have a short call

In 15-20 minutes, we cover participation, timing, data protection and any questions.

03

We agree on next steps

I send the material in advance and we agree on timing and the practical value I will provide in return.

Frequently asked questions

What you may want to know in advance

Does the company already need to use AI?

No. I am looking for companies that actively use AI, are testing individual tools or are only beginning to consider adoption.

Will the company be identifiable in the results?

No. The company will not be identifiable in the dissertation, at the defence or in published results. Companies and individuals are recorded under codes.

How much time does participation take?

A management representative completes a questionnaire in about 15 minutes or takes part in a 45-minute online interview. The employee questionnaire takes about 15 minutes per person.

What if we have fewer than five employees?

Please still get in touch. Five responses are the threshold for an anonymous aggregated employee comparison in the company's individual output, not automatically a condition for taking part in the study.

When is the deadline to join?

I am accepting companies on a rolling basis until the planned number of participating companies is reached. The current recruitment status is always shown at the top of this page.
